Biography

Born and raised in the Philippines and the mother of four, Manuel - a nurse for 20 years - brings deep experience in maternal and child health, but has also worked in labor and delivery, the ER, and in the medical ICU, mentoring students along the way and completing specialty training in kidney ICU care at King Fahd Central Hospital in Saudi Arabia.

Manuel began her American nursing career in the U.S. in 2019, first working as a home health and correctional unit nurse before teaching nursing courses at a college in New Jersey. Since then, she's worked as a clinician II at UVA Health's inpatient dialysis, is a Certified Nephrology Nurse, and joined the School of Nursing as a clinical instructor in 2025.
