University of Virginia School of Nursing
Exceptional place, exceptional leader. Dean Dorrie Fontaine offers remarks at her annual State of the School address in the Dome Room of the Rotunda before a capacity crowd.

Eighty-seven. That’s the number of nursing interns who’ve taken part in our thriving summer research program run by the Office for Nursing Research over the last decade.

Twenty. That’s the number of Roberts Scholars supported with research start-up funds through our innovative hiring program in the last 10 years.

Two hundred seventeen. That’s the number of achievement awards given to staff for extraordinary work since my 2008 arrival.

Two thousand, five hundred. That’s the number of drop-in classes, workshops, retreats, and lectures the Compassionate Care Initiative—now in its 10th year—has hosted since its founding.

And 41. That’s the percentage increase in the School's Annual Fund totals between 2009 and 2018, thanks to a generous community of alumni, friends, parents and others.

So what's the State of the School 2018, a decade after Dean Fontaine's 2008 arrival?
