Volunteer
Join us
We welcome the involvement of anyone who wants to connect personally to the School of Nursing - alumni, parents, students, and friends. There are many options available, some that can be done from a distance.
Work on a committee, be a council member, or mentor a current nursing student. Not sure which is the right fit for you? Fill out our Volunteer Interest Form and answer a few questions - we'll look for opportunities that match your interests, skills, proximity, and availability.
Alumni Council
The School of Nursing Alumni Association (SONAA) was founded in 1916, fifteen years after the School of Nursing was established. Nursing graduates from all degree and certificate programs are automatically considered members upon graduation. The Alumni Council is the leadership body of the SONAA. The Council operates according to the Alumni Association Bylaws. The Alumni Council also has a number of standing, working committees that seek volunteers for short and long-term commitments.
The SONAA is pleased to make a number of resources available to SON students, faculty, staff, and fellow alumni:
- Scholarships for current students
- Scholarships for alumni
- Grier Medical Assistance Fund to support alumni in need
- Awards recognizing faculty and alumni
