I feel that students can only learn in a open, non-treatening environment, and I try to provide such an atmosphere during their clinical rotation. I remember the horrible instructors I had as a student, with their tight buns, starched nursing caps and condescending tones, nothing conducive to learning. My motto: "nobody cried, nobody died."
