University of Virginia School of Nursing
Ranked among the top 4 percent of nursing schools again in 2019's US News & World Report, UVA Nursing's grad programs are Virginia's only ranked among the nation's top 20.

It’s official:

In the 2019 issue of US News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools rankings, UVA’s School of Nursing has again held its own. We remain in the top 20 nursing schools in the nation, tied for the #9 spot among public institutions overall, and at #7 among publics for the DNP. We’re still the only nursing school in Virginia that’s in the top 20, and we rank among the top 4 percent of nursing schools nationally.

And again, our specialties continue to shine:

•    #3 in the nation Clinical Nurse Leader program
•    #11 Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program
•    #16 Doctor of Nursing Practice program

Building on the success of our destination undergraduate programs, these rankings offer a testament to the hard work of our exceptional faculty, and the hard-hitting and burgeoning scholarship taking place here, as well as the incredible support the School receives from its alumni, extended family, and friends.

With well over 500 schools ranked across the U.S., it’s affirmation both of what we’re doing well—and a chance to reflect on the many aspects to celebrate here that rankings simply don’t touch.

Like the warmth, collegiality, and inclusivity of our faculty and staff. The way students are mentored and nurtured by a variety of experts, multidisciplinary and interprofessional. Hard-hitting scholarship from nurse scientists on faculty, up-and-coming professors, and expert nursing clinicians and who lead the nation’s biggest, and best-known nursing organizations.

This School’s success also belongs to our more than 11,000 alumni, who inspire students to think creatively, compassionately, and take their nursing practice to greater heights. Thank you for being part of this incredible place now, and in the future.

Warmly,
