“It is becoming increasingly clear that the climate crisis is also a health crisis, and that while every sector has a role to play in protecting our planet’s natural systems, the imperative for the health sector is especially strong.”
David Nabarro, Health Care Without Harm Global Road Map for Health Care Decarbonization
The health sector’s global climate footprint is massive—if it were a country, it would be the fifth-largest emitter on the planet. And you might be surprised to learn that the U.S. health-care sector is the worst offender, the world’s top emitter of greenhouse gases in both absolute and per capita terms.
So if we want to make a difference, where do we start?
This conference will help equip people who are interested in health-care sustainability with the knowledge and resources to work for change in reducing our carbon footprint. The agenda is built around the action steps outlined in the Health Care Without Harm Global Road Map for Health Care Decarbonization.
