RefWorks - User Support Information

RefWorks is a Web-based bibliography and database manager that is site-licensed by the University of Virginia. For more information, click here.

Technical Requirements:

  • An on-grounds computer with a UVA IP Address or An off-grounds computer running UVA-Anywhere
  • Microsoft Office (Office XP or newer recommended)
  • Web browser (Internet Explorer recommended)

Create a RefWorks Account:

(Note: you must be on-campus or using UVA-Anywhere)

1. Visit the Ref Works New User page to create your account. We recommend using your ComputingID for Login Name.

2. Install the Write-N-Cite software by visiting the Write-N-Cite Download page. Choose "Click here" to begin the download, and then choose Run to install the software. It is recommended that you not be using any MS-Office software (to include MS-Word) during the installation. A reboot will be required after completing this step.
