How to Join

If you are a UVa nursing student interested in joining the UVa chapter of the Student Nurses' Association of Virginia (SNAV), you can apply by picking up an application at Carol Lynn Maxwell-Thompson's office door in Room 4038 of McLeod Hall. The cost is $30. Please make checks payable to SNAV. We send in the applications and one check to NSNA for all of our UVa students. When you join you are a member of National Student Nurses Association (NSNA), Virginia Student Nurses Association (VSNA), and Student Nurses Association of Virginia (SNAV). Please visit the NSNA and the VSNA websites to learn about the many benefits of joining.

Fundraising

SNAV raises money to fund both its social and service events via the:

  • Scrub sales
  • CPR Classes
  • Flower sales
  • CPR Masks
  • AED sales
  • Sweat shirt sales
  • Clinical clipboard sales

Service

Current service projects include:

  • CPR training for the University and the Charlottesville/Albemarle community
  • Food and clothing drives
  • Gifts for U.S. soldiers
  • Educating elementary school children on the role of a nurse
  • "Breakthrough to Nursing" - a program in which nurses promote nursing to minorities, men, and children

Past service events of SNAV include:

  • Annual Toy Drive to benefit the children at the UVa hospital
  • Walmart Blood Pressure Drive to educate the public on the dangers of hypertension
  • Health Fair on the Lawn
  • Make A Wish Dinner
  • CPR classes

Announcements

Join or renew your membership now! Applications are in the box on Carol-Lynn's door, McLeod Room 4038. Leave a check for $30 payable to SNAV. Officers and CPR instructors are free but you should still leave a form for Carol-Lynn. If you want to join but do not have the money, see Carol-Lynn.

NSNA Convention will be April 11-15 in Anaheim, CA. Registration forms are in McLeod Room 4038.

The Make-a-Wish Dinner will be on February 10th. Talk with Jenna Centini if you are interested in attending or helping.
