Academic Progress

You can access your academic audit at any time. It is a good idea to do this each semester prior to meeting with your academic advisor. VISTAA

Transfer Courses

If you are interested in taking a summer course and having it transfer to the University of Virginia, you MUST complete a Request for Transfer Credit Form (available in the SON registrar's office) and have it approved by your academic advisor PRIOR to leaving grounds for the summer. The University will accept certain courses from Virginia Community Colleges. You may use this listing to determine if your course of choice will be accepted. Transferred courses will count only towards credit hours earned, the grades earned at other institutions will not become part of your UVa GPA.

The Transfer of Credit website will help you determine what courses will transfer to the University of Virginia from Virginia colleges other than the those in the Community College System.

Students MAY NOT transfer in courses that are a required part of their curriculum in the nursing school. Students may only transfer in courses that fulfill their general education requirements, with the exception of a second writing requirement. Students are REQUIRED to fulfill the second writing requirement at the University.

The transfer request form is available here.

On-Line Courses

I am trying to register for an on-line course in ISIS and it's telling me that the course is restricted to instructor permission. What do I do?

Online courses follow a slightly different enrollment process than live courses. Most online classes, as well as GNUR 550, 551 and 580, are restricted, which means that new students need to email Patrick or Mark the 5-digit schedule number so that he can register them for the course (course mnemonic and number are not sufficient). Returning students will be automatically registered for any restricted classes based on NEUM, our internal database, which tracks students’ program of study. The advisor will enter the program of study into NEUM when meeting or talking with their advisees during the advising period. In order for everybody’s schedule to be accurate at all times it is extremely important for students to inform their advisor of any changes in their program of study, so that he/she may update it right away.
