VIP Tours - Virginia Secretary of Technology, Aneesh P. Chopra, gets acquainted with our new SimBaby at the August State Health Forum. Four Cabinet Secretaries, their Deputies and other top officials spent the day learning about the Health System, including how we educate our nurses and doctors. Simulation Success - On March 9 and 10, 2006, the University of Virginia School of Nursing hosted over 80 participants from 30 academic and health care institutions in the first-ever statewide nursing simulation conference. Sponsored by Laerdal Medical Corporation, the conference drew nursing educators from 29 localities ranging from Wise to Norfolk and from Danville to Fairfax for an intense two-day learning session. Reba Moyer Childress, in conjunction with Kristy Chambers and Russell Smith – both of Laerdal, organized the event with the assistance of two UVA students, Maria Seguerra and Melody Sullivan. These two nursing students functioned in this role while taking part in an independent leadership course with Ms. Childress. Three other nursing students, Jason Auchincloss, Caroline Ward, and Tiffany Yhap, assisted in the conference as host/hostess.
