Katharine M. Donohoe Clinical Research Award
History and Purpose - This award was endowed to honor Katharine M. Donohoe, a 1973 BSN graduate of the School of Nursing who died in 2000. The purpose of this award is to support clinical research projects in the School of Nursing.
Eligibility - Eligibility - Eligible award recipients include graduate nursing students, nursing faculty, and partnerships between nursing faculty and/or graduate nursing students and nurse clinicians. Preference is given to partnerships, and in particular those partnerships that include clinicians at the U.Va. Medical Center. Non-tenure track faculty members, new investigators, and DNP students are encouraged to apply. Research projects should focus on clinical nursing research aimed toward testing clinical practices to improve patient care. Preference is given to projects that explore chronic health conditions. The 2008 recipient of this award will be expected to attend a luncheon at the School of Nursing on Saturday, June 7 during U.Va. Reunions Weekend, in which she/he will be honored by friends and classmates of Mrs. Donohoe, who would have celebrated her 35th U.Va. Reunion this year.
Application - Follow the same guidelines provided in the Intramural Funding Overview and Specifications. In addition, the purpose of the clinical research project should be stated. The chronic health condition of focus should be identified. Also, provide justification as to how this clinical nursing research project is aimed toward testing clinical practices to improve patient care.
Award Amount: An award amount of up to $3,000 may be requested. One award will be made.
