Nursing Ventures
University of Virginia Nursing Ventures is a collaborative effort
between the School of Nursing and
Medical Center Nursing to promote and support cutting edge and
innovative initiatives for the improvement of health care systems and
clinical practice. UVa Nursing Ventures promotes enterprising projects
designed to improve health care delivery, nursing practice and
education.
UVa Nursing Ventures uses a variety of opportunities to deliver
services, explore and promote the development of new technologies in
practice and education, and disseminate information on contemporary
practice issues facing the nursing profession.
Nursing Ventures offers two services:
U.Va. Health Care Product Evaluation Center
(Administrator: Deborah Conway)
Conducts healthcare product evaluations for:
- Companies seeking assistance developing and refining
prototypes
- Companies seeking to diversify by acquiring rights to a
device created by another firm
- Companies developing an off-label use for an established
product
- Companies requiring an objective third-party evaluation of a
single device or a series of competing designs
- Law firms specializing in intellectual property
Nursing Ventures Entrepreneurial Resource Center
(Administrator: Catherine Kane)
- Assists nurse clinicians and faculty in developing new nursing enterprise and product ideas
- Provides business and product development expertise and advice to nurse
developers
