Mary E. Gibson is a “Double Hoo”, having received her BSN (with distinction) in 1975 and her MSN (Primary Nursing in Society – Community Health) in 1986. Mary went on to earn her PhD at the
Mary’s primary area of specialty is Obstetrics, and she demonstrates a strong community focus to her practice. Her employment experience includes Public Health Nursing, outpatient and inpatient (Labor and Delivery) obstetrics, and she served as a program coordinator for maternal transfers to UVA (1990s), as well as coordinator and data collector for regionalization of high risk pregnancies (late 1970s). In 1997, Mary joined the faculty of the
Mary has served as Chapter and Virginia Section Chair of Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses. She is currently Membership Chair of the Beta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau.
