Director of the Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice Programs
Dr. Dorothy Tullmann completed her undergraduate work in nursing at California State University (CSU), Chico, and her master's and doctoral work at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her long critical care nursing career includes experience in medical, surgical, trauma, and post-operative cardiothoracic ICUs. She was a critical care Clinical Nurse Specialist for several years, and prior to coming to UVA, also taught nursing at CSU, Bakersfield. Dr. Tullmann's doctoral and post-doctoral research involved high-risk older adults in critical care. Her current focus is teaching critical care nursing in the Clinical Nurse Leader program as well as supervising Doctor of Nursing Practice students for their Clinical Practica and Capstone projects. Dr. Tullmann is actively involved in the Inter-professional Education Initiative in the Schools of Nursing and Medicine, and recently has expanded her nursing practice to include becoming a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE).
