Alumni Support for Scholarships and Fellowships
The Nursing Alumni Association believes strongly in the value of a UVa nursing education, and supports students and graduates who are working to reach their educational goals. The majority of the funds awarded by the Alumni Council come from the Nursing Annual Fund, an unrestricted pool of money made up of cumulative gifts from generous alumni, parents, students, and friends.
Merit Scholarship Awards for Current Students
The Nursing Alumni Association funds several merit scholarship and fellowship awards. These are rigorous and highly competitive awards and recipients are selected based on academic excellence and professional promise. Proof of financial need is not required. The merit scholarship award categories are:
- Roy C. Beazley Undergraduate Merit Scholarship (two awards) - for rising third- and fourth-year students in the BSN program
- RN-BSN Merit Scholarship (one award) - for full- or part-time students in the RN-BSN program
- Graduate Merit Fellowship (two awards) - For graduate students in any MSN, CNL, PhD or DNP program
In the past few years, each of these awards has been funded at $2,500; final determination of the amount for 2009-2010 will be made in March.
For the 2009-2010 academic year, the deadline for applications is Wednesday, April 15th.
