Awards for Alumni and Faculty

Who deserves special recognition for their hard work and accomplishments? Which instructor has a great idea that will make nursing education a more meaningful experience? How can students be encouraged to pursue nursing research?

The awards programs sponsored by the Nursing Alumni Association present the perfect opportunity to publicly recognize U.Va. nursing alumni and faculty who are making extraordinary contributions to the profession and to our communities, or to enrich nursing education by promoting innovation in the classroom or through research.

Alumni Recognition Awards

Each year at Reunions the Nursing Alumni Association presents awards to recognize the achievements of outstanding alumni. Our graduates continue to distinguish themselves beyond the University's Grounds. Many have become leaders in education, research, clinical settings, government, and industry. Faculty Recognition Awards

Each year the School of Nursing Alumni Association sponsors a faculty award and cash prize to recognize superior accomplishments in teaching, research, and/or service with an emphasis on outstanding teaching and contributions to the School of Nursing and the University of Virginia. The funding for these awards comes from the School of Nursing Centennial Faculty Award.

Nominations are reviewed by an awards committee composed of nursing alumni (chaired by the Alumni Council Awards Coordinator), with input from a review committee within the School of Nursing. Recipients are recognized at the May Pinning ceremony and receive their awards at the Family Weekend ceremony the following fall.

Nominations for these awards are due annually on March 15.
