Bio Sketch:
Dr. Farrell is currently the Associate Dean for Academic Programs for the School of Nursing which has enrollent of over 600 students. She is responsibile for the day to day academic affairs for baccalaureate, CNL, advanced practice masters, post-masters, Doctor of Nursing Practice and PhD programs. As Chief Technology Officer, she serves as liasion between faculty and Information Technology Systems to evaluate and implement the most appropriate technology solutions to teaching and research. She teaches a first year seminar: "Be the spider not the fly" which covers ways to evaluate emerging technologies for health care including blogs and wikis. She also teaches Health Policy, Managing Information Technology and is a board certifed psychiatric mental health specialist.

Teaching Focus:
Relationship between technology and improving health outcomes for rural and underserved populations; Graduate psychiatric nursing practicum; Graduate Health Policy and Health Informatics; Undergraduate University Seminar (USEM) on Internet Health Care called Be the Spider Not the Fly; mentor for Distinguished Major Program

Research Focus:
Exploring innovative uses of emerging technology in the application of screening, educating and treating mental disorders; Improving mental health outcomes and developing the subsequent policy and procedural implications for action
